However, in the summer of this year, the 207 will become even more visually appealing due to the introduction of a number of new features, allowing it to:
• win new admirers with a more distinctive elegance but still maintaining a personality full of dynamism;
• attract previous and existing owners (1,460,000 207s were produced to the end of April 2009) who, once or even twice before, will have approved of its innovative profile and original styling which are well above average for the segment.
In day-to-day use to continue to win the hearts of its customers through its charm, its blend of comfort and driveability, its low running costs and high levels of standard equipment.
With the new 207, Peugeot, the European leader in the B2 segment in 2008, once again demonstrates its small car expertise. By the end of the first half of 2009 Peugeot will have completely modernised all its vehicles in this segment.
The 107, the ideal urban car in the B1 segment, compact and easy to drive, was given a new design at the front in January 2009 that added a touch of class to its young and trendy image.
In March 2009, the 206+ was introduced to continue the 206 legend with a new goal: that of a versatile entry level vehicle in the B2 segment with proven qualities and a refreshingly modern design featuring all the current Peugeot styling cues.
Finally in July, the 207, the “star of the small car market” will finally see its appeal enhanced in three key ways.
HIGH-LEVEL VISUAL APPEAL
Exterior Styling Changes:
• a redesigned front combining natural dynamism with a softer visual look;
• more body coloured surfaces and chrome detailing;
• spectacular new rear lights using panels of luminescent diodes (hatchback and CC).
A more luxurious passenger compartment with:
• new trims and detailing placing emphasis on perceived quality, comfort and dynamism;
• new instrument panel designs with a more modern look and visual appeal.
AN EVEN GREATER COMMITMENT TO REDUCING FUEL CONSUMPTION AND PROTECTING THE ENVIRONMENT:
• thanks to particularly fuel effi cient engines with reduced greenhouse gas emissions;
• through the optimisation of the rolling resistance of the tyres to reduce fuel consumption;
• through “very low fuel consumption” optimised not only aerodynamically (exceptional Cx of only 0.274), but also by operation of the engine itself and rolling resistance, allowing CO2 emissions to be reduced to 99 g/km;
• through the gradual deployment of engines meeting the Euro5 emission standard;
• through the introduction of a gear change indicator on manual gearbox engines encouraging the driver to drive in a more environmentally efficient way.
INTRODUCTION OF NEW EQUIPMENT ENHANCING BOTH COMFORT AND DRIVING SAFETY
• WIP Bluetooth® system;
• impulse direction indicators;
• remote controlled window closure (hatchback and SW);
• one-touch operation of the driver’s electric window on the 207 CC.
The 207 family, therefore, builds on its basic strengths: excellent primary, secondary and tertiary safety and innovative hi-tech equipment.
It also reaffirms its distinctive appeal in each of its different body shapes:
• the 207 hatchback, three or five doors: Elegant and user-friendly, dynamic and sporty, it offers a unique blend of comfort and driveability as well as remarkable versatilit;
• the 207 SW and SW Outdoor: An attractive aesthetic balance, a bright interior and remarkable practicality: all major benefits with, for the Outdoor version, an added taste of adventure;
• the 207 CC: Europe’s leading cabriolet, all categories combined, offers an attractive style coupled with the dynamism and safety that are the foundation of its appeal.
AN EXTERIOR DESIGN EXUDING CHARACTER AND ELEGANCE
The new 207 retains a visual balance expressing natural strength and dynamism.
From the front, the new 207 presents a “softer” one-piece lower front panel which redefines the contours of the air intake. There is also an increased use of body coloured detailing on the body and the introduction of offset circular fog lights located laterally in two aerodynamic “recesses” – an arrangement that visually widens the car and creates a new personality full of expression.
It should be remembered that the first generation of the 207 featured two different front designs according to the version – Comfort or Sport – based on a common theme and a shared air intake design.
Also, different versions had unique features visible from the front such as:
• decoration of the air intake grille (textured horizontal bars in either black, chrome or metallic grey);
• “side recesses” featuring chrome trimmed circular fog lamps or small horizontal bars reminiscent of those on the air intake grille.
To elevate the status of the new 207 even further, chrome detailing is featured on the Premium version (hatchback) and on SW and CC “sport” versions. These popular models previously used only black trim detailing.
Viewed from the rear, the new hatchback and CC models now have new, hi-tech rear lights incorporating LED technology, something of a rarity in this market segment. In the red section, the rear lights consist of two horizontal panels of 6 LEDs bordered on the inside by a vertical panel of 3 LEDs forming a luminescent parallelogram. From the side a strip of backlit reflectors are visible.
In the white section, the reversing light and direction indicator have a shaped profile.
This arrangement, draws the eye to the outside and visually widens the rear of the car, creating a genuine new look, thanks to the modern hi-tech appearance.
Still at the rear, the lower rear bumper panel is now painted in body-colour on the hatchback and CC models equipped with rear parking assistance, adding a further touch of distinction to the car’s visual identity.
From the side, the new features at the front combine with the rear lights to give the “new 207” a distinctive profile enhanced by new style wheels and wheel trims that reflect its dynamism and modernity:
• the new 15” “Brisbane” wheel trims with 8 spokes offers a design that captures the light and accentuates its elegance;
• the new 16” “Canberra” alloy wheel with five large spokes expresses strength and power;
• the new 17” “Melbourne” two-tone alloy wheel with eight diamante spokes is not only sporty but also expresses quality, its elegance enhanced by a slightly concave design.
From Premium level, the profile also gains in prestige from body-colour side rubbing strips enhanced by chrome detailing.

A new design for the air conditioning controls
The instrument panel has been revised with the introduction of a redesigned heating/ automatic air conditioning control panel.This more modern design is enhanced by detailing, graphics and chrome emphasising the more upmarket character and the meticulous integration into the instrument panel with its reduced clearances throughout. In addition to the updated design, the new rotary controls are much more ergonomic: located in their own housing, they benefit from a positive position location and are smoother to operate.
NEW FUNCTIONS
These are designed to assist drivers and not only enhance their comfort and convenience but also, in some cases, help them to adopt a more environmentally-friendly driving style.
Gear shift indicator (GSI)
This new feature is available as standard on all new 207s powered by a Euro 5 engine with a manual gearbox. It helps the driver to adopt a more economical driving style by indicating the optimal gear, thereby ensuring the lowest possible fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.This indicator is located in the odometer and consists of a rising vertical arrow indicating the best time to change gear.
This recommendation naturally leaves the driver responsible for following the system’s indications.
The best gear, or “target gear” is determined according to multiple parameters:
• vehicle speed;
• gear engaged;
• engine temperature and engine speed;
• type of driving (depression of the accelerator pedal determines the sought-after level of performance).
The arrow remains visible until the driver follows the recommendation.
The impulse direction indicator
Following the example of the 308, the new 207 benefits from impulse direction indicators.Very practical on motorways, this function activates the direction indicator for three fl ashes, which is often sufficient to indicate a safe direction change, without having to switch the indicators on then off manually, preventing the risk of forgetting to turn them off again.
Remote control electric windows
Expressing its upmarket convenience, the new 207 hatchback and SW benefi t on many versions from remote-control closing of the windows when the plip lock button is held down, during locking of the vehicle.
If a sun roof is present, it is closed at the same time.
207 CC – One-touch closure of the driver’s window
The new 207 CC offers more convenience at toll booths for example, with one-touch operation of the driver’s window (instead of one-touch opening only).
For safety reasons, this function is activated only when the engine is running and if the roof is in a stable position (open or closed).
